Nov 24, 2012 - Thank you for posting this! What is this music that accompanies the video? Is it also audible at the installation, or did you just add it for effect?

Nov 24, 2012 - Joe, The music is :Lazy Calm" by the Cocteau Twins. I don't think this or any other music accompanies the work at Cornell.

Nov 25, 2012 - Considering Segan valued real stars, has anyone thought about the effects of light pollution and the degradtion of viewing the real cosmos for the average man that is caused by this installation?

Dr52james Says:

Nov 26, 2012 - Yeah, the Town of Ithaca has a light pollution ordinance. This installation is well within the law, as the LEDs point downwards under a big roof. It pollutes way less than parking lot illumination. Even the electric costs for the lamps are covered by carbon offsets. You want real stars, head up to Mt Pleasant, where you'll see this "Cosmos" contributes no light pollution at all. The malls around Rt 13 & Triphammer Rd are what degrade Ithaca night sky.
